Start here
A calm way in.
Long Bright Life is an independent, evidence-led publication for the second half of life. Here is how to use it.
Choose your entry point
Sleep better
If something specific is wrong tonight, start here. Temperature, routine and the environment around sleep are where the evidence is most actionable and where the gap between common advice and the research is widest.
Understand the evidence
If you have read too many contradictory things, start here instead. This explains how we judge a study, how we describe uncertainty, and why we sometimes publish “nobody knows”.
Take the long view
If nothing is urgent and you are thinking about the next decade, start here. Systems, trade-offs and the decisions that compound quietly.
What to expect
Every substantive claim carries its sources. Where the evidence is weak, contested or absent, we say so rather than rounding it up into confidence. Guidance is connected to real constraints — cost, effort, side effects, and the questions worth taking to a clinician.
We are a young publication and much of the library is still being written. Topics open only when there is something worth reading behind them, which is why you will see “in preparation” in places rather than thin pages.
What this is not
This site publishes general information and education. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional who knows your history. If symptoms are severe or you are worried something is urgent, contact your local emergency or urgent care service. Read the full medical disclaimer.
Our content is not currently reviewed by a clinician before publication, and we will not imply otherwise — the honest position is set out in our medical review policy.
