This policy describes what is actually running on this website today — not a generic template.

What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels, tags and software development kits — do comparable things: they let a site or a third party store or read information on your device. We use the word “cookies” below to cover all of them.

Why we use them

Only for things that cannot work without them. Today that means one thing: remembering the cookie choice you make, so we do not ask you again on every page.

Would let us measure which pages are read and how people move through the site, so we can improve what we publish. Nothing in this category is loaded unless you allow it.

Functional

Would enable optional conveniences such as embedded video or other third-party content that remembers your preferences. Nothing in this category is loaded unless you allow it.

Advertising and marketing

Would allow advertising or marketing measurement technologies, including partner or affiliate measurement that relies on cookies or similar identifiers. Nothing in this category is loaded unless you allow it.

What is actually set on this site today

First-party

This cookie is set only after you make a choice. Nothing is stored before that.

Third-party

None. Long Bright Life currently loads no analytics, no advertising or marketing technology, no affiliate tracking, no embedded video or social widgets, and no third-party fonts or scripts. There is therefore nothing in the analytics, functional or advertising categories to switch on at the moment — the controls exist so that the choice is already yours if that changes.

Our hosting provider

The site is hosted by Hostinger, which serves the website, terminates the HTTPS connection and keeps short-lived server and security logs. Hosting and security infrastructure of this kind can set strictly necessary operational cookies — for example to route a request correctly or to mitigate abuse. We do not control the names or lifetimes of any such cookies and we will not invent values for them here. If we confirm specific operational cookie names and durations, we will list them in the table above rather than describe them vaguely.

How blocking actually works here

Optional technologies are not merely “switched off” after loading. They are loaded through a single consent gate in the site’s code, and a technology whose category you have not allowed is never inserted into the page at all. Because there are currently no optional technologies registered, nothing optional loads for anyone.

Managing your choice

• Use Manage cookie preferences in the footer of any page to review every category, switch optional categories on or off individually, save your choice, or withdraw consent entirely.
• Withdrawing consent deletes the stored choice, and you will be asked again on your next visit.
• Refusing optional cookies does not break the site or limit what you can read.

Browser controls

You can also control cookies in your browser: most browsers let you see stored cookies, delete them, block them for particular sites, or block all of them. The controls are usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking all cookies will also remove our record of your choice, so you will be asked again. Deleting cookies for this site has the same effect.

Global Privacy Control

We recognise the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising and marketing technologies and of any sale or sharing of personal information. In practice that means the advertising and marketing category stays off, and neither “Accept all” nor a default will turn it on — only you, deliberately, in the preference centre. Updates to this policy

This policy carries an internal version number (currently 1). When the technologies we use, or the meaning of a category, change materially, we increase that version, which asks everyone for a fresh choice rather than assuming the old one still applies. The date at the top of this page shows when the text last changed.

We do not yet have a monitored contact address and will not publish one that nobody is reading. It will appear on our contact page before the site opens to readers.
