Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Written from what this website actually does, after auditing its code — not from a template.
1. Who is responsible
Long Bright Life is responsible for the personal data described here. A registered legal entity has not yet been established for the publication; when one exists, its registered name, address and any registration number will be published here. We have not appointed a data protection officer, and we will not name one we do not have.
2. The short version
This is a pre-launch editorial website. There are no accounts, no logins, no comments, no working forms, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising. The only information we hold about you is what our hosting provider records in ordinary server logs, plus the cookie preference you choose yourself. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not build profiles of readers.
3. What we actually process
Server and security logs
The site is hosted by Hostinger, which serves the website, terminates the HTTPS connection and keeps short-lived server and security logs. Like effectively all web hosting, this involves automatically recording technical details of each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, and your browser and operating system version. This is necessary to deliver the site, keep it available, and detect and prevent abuse or attack. We do not use these logs to identify individual readers or to build profiles. The retention period is set by our hosting provider’s standard configuration; we do not currently have a verified retention figure to state and will publish one when we have confirmed it rather than guess.
Legal basis (UK/EU): our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website.
Your cookie choice
When you make a choice in our cookie banner or preference centre, we store it in a first-party cookie named lbl_consent on your own device. It records which categories you allowed, when you decided, the policy version, and whether a Global Privacy Control signal was present. It contains no identifier for you, and it is not transmitted to any third party. Full detail is in our cookie policy.
Legal basis (UK/EU): compliance with our legal obligation to record consent.
Contact-form submissions
There is no contact form on this site. Nothing is submitted to us through the site today.
Newsletter
We do not operate a newsletter. The sign-up shown on the homepage is explicitly marked as inactive, is disabled in the markup, and cannot submit anything. No email addresses are collected or stored anywhere.
Analytics
We do not currently run any analytics. No analytics script, tag or pixel is present on this site, so no page-view, session or behavioural data is collected about you. If we introduce analytics, it will be listed in the cookie policy and will not run unless you allow the analytics category.
Advertising and affiliate links
There is no advertising on this site and there are currently no affiliate links or affiliate tracking technologies. See our advertising policy and affiliate disclosure.
Embedded content
We embed no third-party video, maps, social posts, comment systems or fonts. Every asset on the site is served from our own domain, so no third party receives a request from your browser simply because you read a page here.
4. Who we share data with
Our hosting provider, Hostinger, processes data on our behalf as part of serving the website. We do not use any other processor today. We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. See Do not sell or share my personal information.
5. International processing
Our hosting provider operates infrastructure in multiple countries, so technical data such as server logs may be processed outside your own country, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, transfers rely on the safeguards our provider has in place, such as standard contractual clauses. We will name the specific mechanism and location once we have confirmed it with the provider, rather than assert one we have not verified.
6. Retention
- Server and security logs: kept for the period set by our hosting provider’s standard configuration, then deleted or overwritten.
- Your cookie choice: stored on your device for up to 180 days, or until you withdraw it or clear your browser data — whichever is sooner.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We keep the number of systems that touch reader data as small as possible: no accounts, no databases of readers, no third-party scripts. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
8. Children’s privacy
This site is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we operate no accounts or sign-ups through which a child could provide information to us.
9. Your rights
If you are in the UK, EU or EEA
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability where applicable, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
If you are in a US state with a privacy law
Depending on your state — for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others — you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to access or delete it, to correct it, to obtain a portable copy, to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information, and we operate no targeted advertising; the opt-out mechanism is available regardless at Do not sell or share my personal information.
In practice, because we hold no account, profile, email address or identifier for you, there is usually nothing for us to look up. Server logs are not indexed by person and we cannot reliably link them to an individual without additional information.
10. How to exercise your rights
We do not yet have a monitored contact address, and we will not publish one that nobody is reading. A privacy contact route will be published on our contact pagebefore the site opens to readers. In the meantime you can exercise the choices that are entirely in your own hands: use “Manage cookie preferences” in the footer to change or withdraw your cookie consent, and clear this site’s cookies in your browser to remove the only data we store on your device.
11. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change materially affects cookies or consent, we also increase the consent policy version, which asks you to make a fresh choice.
